Do you have a fear of "Putting yourself out there?"

PART #1 - Google Search

Using a Google search, anyone, in moments can find out all kinds of interesting things about you. With your address and Google Earth, they can get a good look at where you live.

You are "out there."

You can continue to be fearful and a "victim," Or, you can take control of what people are finding out about you.

You get to choose.

The fact is, your prospects have their minds 70% of the way made up BEFORE they contact you.

Where are they getting their information and forming an opinion about you and your services?

Mostly, the Internet of all things.

Go Google yourself. Right now.

And, I'm serious. You need to know. What are people seeing?

I did this the year before I started my business and worked at cleaning things up. So glad I took the proactive route. It has paid off. I've 'buried' anything I don't want you to see. Mostly.

The above image is what comes up in a search for me.

LinkedIn is #1 - Love that. And, very typical, no matter how much SEO you are doing for your website.

My horrendous website is #2.

And finally, the Instagram account I thought I was being incognito on. Whoops.

That you LinkedIn profile comes up first is a tremendous opportunity. You have full access and full control over what people see there. I hope you understand just how big an opportunity this is for your business.

If you don't have a Strategy for LinkedIn, if you aren't using it as a Sales and Marketing tool, WOW - you are missing a lot of opportunity.

The next thing that comes up for me is all my videos. Mostly guest podcasts at the top. Huge boon.

There is nothing more sticky on LinkedIn and on the internet in general than a podcast. Host shared links, all the different sites the podcast is on, all the places you've shared it, your website, the host website...

They are the gift that keeps on giving.

Use them to your advantage. I have a total of 4 pages of videos that come up when you Google my name. Great way for prospects to learn about me, how I operate, if they like my style or not, what services I offer and more.

The next most frightening thing that comes up is images. Yikes. Then my YouTube Channel which has always been a great business driver for me and then my posting on LinkedIn.

You may have realized FB did not come up.

Most of the rest of it is more podcasts, promo from speaking events I've done and Bio's on networking platforms.

LinkedIn is my main marketing platform. You don't have to be on TikTok, IG, FB, etc. to dominate a Google Search.

As an Introvert this is all very frightening to me. And, my business is important to me, so I did all of that anyway. It took time to get over myself, but I am determined to be in control of my reputation.

Everything I did was intentional.

I get business from YouTube. That is not an accident. It took hiring someone to brand my videos, optimize them and get things looking somewhat professional.

If you feel like you are not in control of your brand, your reputation and your buyer's journey - there is a lot you can do about it.

I am absolutely serious about Googling yourself. Be proactive. Find out what is 'out there' and do something strategic to improve it.

I have helped several of my clients do reputation repair on the internet. Interestingly enough, 2 of them were attorneys. It's not that hard.

In this search, I found a guest podcast that I've been waiting for the host to inform me it's been published forever. So excited to find it. Best resource I have on the internet. Better than my website. (link below. to be shared Sunday on LinkedIn)

Next Newsletter I will talk in more detail about the fear of posting and what it is costing you - like lower conversion rates, and serious competitive disadvantage. Buyer remorse is another. Stay tuned.

until next time...
