I do not like the heat. Too oppressive.
As a Rock Climbing Guide in Wisconsin for 8 years, I spent a lot of days baking on the side of a cliff, with clients, making the most of it and ensuring no one went home in a body bag.
And when I say heat, here in Marin, it doesn't compare to the Midwest which is 90 degrees and 90% humidity, even at midnight.
Here in Marin it dips down to the 50's every night with Bay or Ocean breezes. What's not to like?
I don't like to cook when it's hot.
My little version of Freedom.
Here are my favorite go-to things to make when we get blasted with heat.
(I should add, I can't follow a recipe to save my life. I'm a rebel like that. That's why I don't bake. That's real science in baking, you have to get it right.)
Recipes are 'suggestions' and inspiration. Change liberally to suit your taste. Start your own revolution.
Mangos work equally great and mint vs. basil, use chèvre in place of feta...
serve over a bed of lettuce, with chips, in a burrito... So many versions of this
The little Persian cucs work great too. Defiantly get the toasted sesame seeds.
Chicken Avocado Ranch Burritos
O M G! These are the bomb. I've made curry and Cajun versions of this too. Serve over lettuce for variety.
All of these recipes are picnic friendly and easily packed up and mobile.
