Are you up for a LinkedIn Biz Dev Challenge?

“We Remember 10% of What We Read …”

A popular “Learning Pyramid” claims:

  • 10% retention for reading

  • 20% for hearing

  • 30% for seeing

  • 90% for doing

So, roll up your sleeves and prepare yourself for a back-to-school LinkedIn Biz Dev Challenge for the month of September!

I talk about marketing, sales, and where they intersect with LinkedIn all the time. Talk, talk, talk!

It's time for some DOING!

Monday, September 1st, I am challenging you to go into the newsfeed on LinkedIn at least 3Xs that week and leave 3 comments on other peoples' content each time.

3X3. 3 days. 3 comments each day.

Why?

I teach many different visibility strategies for my clients. It depends on what they are already doing for business development and what they feel comfortable doing.

If you are not sharing content, leveraging other peoples' content is a very easy strategy.

Here's what may be surprising about that.

The #1 Visibility Strategy on LinkedIn is commenting on other peoples' content.

If you are sharing content regularly, commenting is still the gift that keeps on giving. Your content is amplified if you are actively commenting on content in the newsfeed.

Give to Get.

Another very important point is, if people are commenting on your content, and you aren't commenting back, LinkedIn is suppressing your post.

Just another heads up, if you are tagging tons of people in your posts, please understand, for each tagged person that does not engage with your post, you are being suppressed by a few points.

Engagement is rewarded. Commenting is the biggest bang for the buck.

💲💲💲

This is your chance to capitalize on that.

Three days.

Three comments each of those days.

And, it needs to be a 'Relevant Comment.'

"Thanks for sharing."

"Congratulations."

"Interesting."

Are NOT relevant comments.

Shoot for 10 words or more.

Tag the author if it makes sense.

The goal is to ADD to the conversation. That is the whole reason for the current algorithms. Rewarding professional conversations.

What are the possible benefits for you?

New connections. People that are active on LinkedIn and are doing things.

Eventually, you may get conversations and clients. I do.

I really promote commenting because it drives results more than any other strategy.

Whose content should you target?

  1. Professionals you respect.

  2. Professionals that have the same target audience as you, but are no compete with what you offer.

  3. Influencers in your field, practice area, or specialty.

  4. Colleagues you collaborate with.

  5. Professionals you refer to.

  6. Professionals you want to get connected to.

I make an effort every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to do just this. I want my content to hit its maximum audience, so I Give to Get.

Let me know how it goes!

Next week is a new Challenge!

Until next time...
